The Legion bridge in Prague - diagnostic and reconstruction
One of most important bridges over Vltava river in Prague, built in 1898 - 1901.
Diagnostic work includes a static, material and construction-historical survey and this year is divided into several stages. The result will be a bridge reconstruction project that could begin in 2020.
Diagnostic work is carried out on board the pontoon using the so-called core borehole technology. The removed masonry samples will then be examined by the Klokner Institute of Czech Technical university in Prague.
The boreholes also serve to install continuous temperature monitoring of the structure that will last throughout the exploration work. The measurement will, among other things, serve to determine the thermal load of the bridge structure.
