Climate monitoring during the display and storage of the Czech Crown Jewels
During the annual exhibition of the crown jewels to the public, COMET participates in regular checks of the functionality of COMET devices for measuring climatic conditions both during the handling of the Czech crown jewels and during their year-round storage in the Crown Chamber above St. Wenceslas Chapel.
The U3631M device measures the climate in real time and is connected to the COMET Cloud platform, which enables:
- continuous monitoring of values
- data storage for later analysis
- setting alarms when limits are exceeded
The responsible persons are immediately informed by SMS or e-mail and can quickly respond to any deviations. Thanks to the built-in battery and wireless data transmission, monitoring is continuous, even outside exhibition periods.
A stable microclimate is essential for the protection of these unique symbols of Czech statehood – the Crown of St. Wenceslas, the Sceptre, and the Royal Apple. Even small fluctuations in temperature or humidity can cause corrosion, cracking, or other irreversible damage to metals, precious stones, and other historical materials.
Our solution provides data that helps to evaluate the stability of the environment over the long term and plan preventive measures. This ensures that these valuable artifacts can be preserved in the best possible condition for future generations.
