Implementation of online monitoring during storage of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech

Vaccines place high demands on storage and therefore the hospital turned to the company COMET System s.r.o. to recommend a solution for online monitoring, including SMS and e-mail alarm notifications.
 
A wireless IoT data logger with a built-in GSM modem U0141M and a temperature probe Pt1000TR125 / E for very low temperatures, which has a measuring range of -190 ° C to 150 ° C, were used for this application. An integral part of online monitoring is also COMET Cloud, which allows previewing and processing of data sent from any device with Internet access and sending e-mail notifications.
 
Said datalogger has 4 inputs and is suitable for monitoring multiple temperatures - vaccine temperature -80 ° C during storage and transport, + 2 ° C to + 8 ° C when applying the vaccine, or simultaneous storage of another vaccine, eg from Moderna at -20 ° C.

Installation of the device is very simple. After placing the probe in the transport refrigerator, freezer or refrigerator with vaccines, the measured values ​​are immediately shown on the display of the device. Then alarms are set, phone numbers are entered and data sending to the COMET Cloud starts. In case of exceeding the set limits, an extraordinary message about the occurrence of an alarm (SMS, e-mail according to the configuration) is sent immediately.
 
Immediate information on the critical temperature thus helps to prevent the vaccine from deteriorating.
